Saging Well

$18.99

The best is not behind you, it is what you have been building toward.

For the believer over 55 who suspects God isn't done with them yet.

Someone in your church — maybe your pastor, but hopefully not, maybe just the culture — has quietly communicated that your best days of ministry are behind you.

Nobody fired you. You've just been... set aside. Thanked for your service. Given a comfortable pew and a lower expectation.

God hasn't agreed to that arrangement.

Saging Well was written for the believer who refuses to go quietly — who suspects that everything they've learned, survived, and built over six decades is exactly what God intends to use now. Not someday. Now.

This isn't a book about aging gracefully. It's a book about aging purposefully — about understanding that the final season of a life well-lived isn't a cool-down lap. It's the harvest.

What You'll Find Inside

  • You'll move from vague spiritual restlessness to a concrete, season-specific calling — one you can begin living out this week.

  • You'll know exactly how to pass on what you've learned so it outlasts you — and reaches people you'll never meet.

  • You'll have a framework for navigating senior life — retirement, loss, and change — without losing your spiritual footing.

  • You'll be equipped to deepen your relationship with Christ in ways that the sheer busyness of earlier seasons simply didn't allow.

  • You'll finish each chapter with a practical Call to Action — a next step you can take immediately, not eventually.

Who This Book Is For

For the older believer, in or near retirement, who feels sidelined. If you've given decades to your church and quietly wonder whether anyone still needs what you carry, this book was written directly to you.

For the pastor who wants to activate his older members. Your 55+ congregation isn't a demographic to entertain — it's a powerful resource most churches leave untapped. Saging Well gives you a framework and a language for mobilizing them.

For leaders of groups focused on this age group. If you're building a ministry for those at or near retirement and need a theological and practical foundation to put in the hands of your people, this is that book.

For small groups and Sunday school classes. The built-in Calls to Action make Saging Well a natural fit for group study. Read it together and work through it together.

What Readers Are Saying

Saging Well hit home with me. Not just for the present but for experiences from my past. I encouraged everyone in the group I lead to get this book. It is a must-read for those in this season of life. (M. Mathis)

About the Author

Carlton Coon Sr. is not writing about senior ministry from the outside. As the national director responsible for the launch of UPCI Sages 55+, he has spent years building an active national ministry on the conviction that older believers are not the church's past — they are some of its most strategic present. The goal of UPCI Sages is ministry by those over 55.

For over fifty years, he has evangelized, pastored, traveled, and led a national missions effort. He has spoken and written with one consistent message: You can make a difference for God. Equip yourself to make a difference.

In the Sage-age of life, God is not finished with you. Saging Well is that message in book form. If you're ready to stop coasting and start harvesting, Carlton wrote this book for you.

FAQ

  • "Is this only for Pentecostals/UPCI members?" — Carlton's convictions are Pentecostal, but the calling he writes about belongs to every believer.

  • "I'm not retired yet — is this still for me?" — Saging Well is most powerful for those in the 55–75 window — close enough to see the finish line, but with plenty of harvest left to bring in. If that's you, yes — don't wait.

  • "Is this good for group study? “ — Yes — each chapter ends with a Call to Action built for group discussion. Many Sunday school classes and small groups are reading it together right now.
